MEET MAX

On the evening of December 27th, Max was at his grandparent’s and complained of a headache. Shortly after it was discovered Max was suffering from a brain hemorrhage due to a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM). He was CareFlighted to Children’s Health Dallas where he underwent an emergency craniotomy. Max spent over 4 weeks in the ICU in a medically induced coma to allow his brain to heal. Afterward, his right skull was reattached, and a VP shunt was put in to allow for fluid to drain. He also has had surgery to remove the AVM.

After over 30 days in Inpatient rehab, Max has moved to a day neuro program and will continue to heal from his brain trauma and regain basic functions and strength. His left side remains significantly weaker than his right, and an intense therapy schedule will remain to gain as much function prior to the brain hemorrhage.

Max has a long road to recovery, but he is working hard and continues to make forward progress.
